FREE SPAY DAYS🐱🐶🎉 February is Spay and Neuter Awareness Month! To celebrate, we are partnering with Delaware’s Office of Animal Welfare to offer FREE Spay Days for Delaware residents, through their Fixed and Fab program!

Spaying and neutering provides countless benefits, including reducing overpopulation and reducing shelter intake. In addition to free spay and neuter, all pets will receive FREE microchips, Rabies, and Distemper vaccinations!

Spay Days benefit low-income pet owners receiving public assistance. To see if you qualify, visit fixedandfab.com or click the link in our bio! You do not need to apply through Fixed and Fab.

VELCRO BOY 🥹💗🐾 This #HAPFosterFriday we would like to share a pup who is loving life in foster, Joey!

Joey is a 10-month-old lab mix who loves being with friends! He came to HAP from a high-intake shelter in Georgia when they no longer had space for him. Joey is the true definition of a velcro pup, as he loves being close to you and spending time with people. He loves to snuggle and is quick to paw at you when he thinks he deserves more pets. He enjoys long walks or tossing stuffed toys around our fenced fields. Joey walks well on a leash, staying right by your side most of the time and easily redirecting his focus back to you! He also knows basic commands and is eager to please his people. Joey is currently in a temporary foster home with another dog, who he loves to snuggle with! While Joey hasn’t met any young kids yet, we think he’d do well with older children who can handle a dog his size.

Earlier this week, our friends at Sanford School invited HAP to visit and educate students on animal welfare!

Our Director of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Green, had a blast engaging with their class and sharing the importance of helping animals in need. Of course, they also had a blast socializing and playing with our young pups and kitties too! This ties into their education, as the students are currently working on an art exhibition focused around animal advocacy. When their project is complete, their beautiful artwork will be showcased at HAP Wilmington’s Community Room, for visitors and volunteers to enjoy!

FLUFFY & FUN🐶🐾💗 This #HAPWoofWednesday we are introducing our goofy girl, Delilah!

Delilah is a 7-year-old Border Collie mix who loves to play. Delilah came to HAP when her owners son developed an allergy to her. After spending her whole life in a home, Delilah was a little nervous at first to be in the shelter. She can be shy around new people, likely from losing her family. However, with treats and some playtime, she is quick to warm up! Once you have gained her trust, she wants to spend all of her time with you. Whether that’s by cuddling, playing, or doing some tricks for treats. She loves any and all toys, especially bones and stuffies. When she’s not playing with our staff, she is likely curled up on her bed in an adorable sweater for a nap. Delilah is already house-trained, walks well on a leash, and knows basic commands. She has previously lived with children and has made some doggy friends here too!
