‼️URGENT FOSTER NEEDED‼️ This #HAPFosterFriday we are highlighting a pup that desperately wants out of the shelter!

Maeve is a 11-month-old terrier mix seeking an immediate foster placement! She came to HAP from a high-intake shelter in Louisiana, where she was placed on a euthanasia list, when they no longer had space for her. When Maeve arrived to us, she adjusted smoothly to the shelter environment and was the friendlist little girl. However, like many teenage pups, she was overlooked by adopters for her energy and training needs. After spending nearly 6 months in a shelter environment, Maeve has begun to show signs of stress and overarousal in her kennel. To ease her stress, she has been enjoying time in foster with one of our partners, @blackdogbehaviorandtraining .

After only a few days in foster, Maeve has already proven to be more relaxed. She absolutely LOVES to play and will happily take any toy you give her. After some exercise, training, or playtime, she is ready to curl up next to you for some cuddles! Maeve is treat and toy motivated, making her a fast learner and eager to please. She already knows basic commands and walks well with a harness. Maeve has done well being left alone overnight and for a few hours during the day. She can be a little anxious of a crate, but loves having a bed in her room to snooze on!

We are hoping to find Maeve a new foster placement by next week, to avoid her coming back into the shelter environment. Maeve has done well in playgroup with submissive, playful dogs. As she continues training, Maeve is seeking a home with adults and no cats. Additionally, BlackDog will be providing complimentary training, if needed, to Maeve while she is in foster!

MUTTINI MIXER 2024 🍸🐾👏 Last Thursday, we celebrated the revival of our Muttini Mixer at Riverfront Events!

Dozens of dogs and their loving owners attended to give back to animals in need. The evening was filled with savory eats, delicious drinks, exciting auction experiences, and lots of laughter!

Thanks to all who joined us, we were able to raise over $55,000 to support our lifesaving mission! These essential funds will help continue providing speciality medical care, enhance our animal enrichment program, and support low-cost programs for our community pets!

Together, we are able to help thousands of animals across the state of Delaware and beyond find loving homes each year, and ensure pets are kept with the families who love them.

THANK YOU to everyone who helped make this night such a success for animals everywhere! 💛💙

Pebbles is reminding you that we are hosting a low-cost vaccine clinic this Saturday, November 23 from 9AM-11AM at HAP Rehoboth Beach!

No appointment needed, services are discounted, and you don’t pay an exam fee like you would for a veterinary appointment.

🐾Rabies vaccination is $25
🐾Distemper and Bordetella vaccinations are $20 each
🐾Microchip $25
🐾General De-Wormer (Pyrantel Pamoate)– Two doses $10

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
✔️Cats must be in a hard plastic or cardboard carrier
✔️Dogs must wear a collar and non-retractable leash
✔️3-year vaccines are available if you bring your pets most recent up-to-date rabies certificate with you
✔️If your pet requires a muzzle, please bring your animals properly fitting muzzle with you (owners must be able to put the muzzle on their pet)

GET HER HOME BY THE HOLIDAYS 🐕💕 This #HAPWoofWednesday we are introducing our playful & snuggly girl, Marley!

Marley is a 4-year-old Shepherd mix with the biggest brain and an even bigger heart! She came to HAP from a local rescue group in New Jersey when they no longer had space for her. Marley can be reactive in her kennel and is not a huge fan of other dogs, which has caused her to be overlooked by adopters. Despite this, once she is away from the stressful kennel environment, she is quick to fall in love! Marley has even made friends with our local Home Depot team, who love to see her!

Whether you have toys or treats, Marley is eager to please! She already knows many commands, such as ‘sit’, ‘paw’, ‘down’, ‘stay’, ‘other paw’, and ‘come’. Marley is also house-trained and will happily prance around with her favorite toy on a walk. Marley absolutely loves stuffed toys, carrying them any chance she gets. She also enjoys playing fetch in our fenced fields to get some fun exercise. After play, she is quick to nestle into your arms for cuddle time!
