MEET THE SURGEONS

Dr. sylke lohmann

Growing up on her family’s farm in Alberta, Canada, Dr. Lohmann spent her childhood surrounded by cows, horses, ducks, and just about everything you could imagine. Her passion for caring for animals led her to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. After graduating from St. George’s University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2016, Dr. Lohmann did a rotating surgery/medicine internship and specialty surgery internship, providing emergency procedures and lifesaving urgent care to animals in need. .

In 2021, Dr. Lohmann began her career with HAP, introducing specialty procedures at a more affordable cost to help owners who were struggling financially. Now, she serves as HAP’s Director of Surgery, implementing modern practices and procedures to help more animals and people in need. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her two dogs, Gertrude and Emelia, and four cats, Sterling, Shiva, Drew, and Henry. As well as continually fostering kittens.

“With surgery, it’s an amazing feeling to be able to put something back together! You’re able to take an animal that is severely ill, or in a lot of pain to being back to normal and pain-free very shortly after surgery.” – Dr. Lohmann

Dr. Sara Jastrebski

Dr. Jastrebski grew up in Delaware and attended the University of Delaware for both her undergraduate and master’s degrees. She then graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 2021. Dr. Jastrebski then spent a year in private practice, where she closely worked with rescue and shelter pets, enjoying it so much she decided to work with shelter animals full-time and has been at HAP ever since. She has two dogs, Shortcake and Jimbo, and two cats, Carlton and Alma. In her spare time, Dr. Jastrebski enjoys reading and salsa dancing.

“My favorite thing about surgery, especially at HAP, is giving animals a chance where they may not have it elsewhere. We are incredibly fortunate to be able to provide low-cost, high-quality surgery. I feel so thankful to be able to provide life-saving services to animals in need and allow them to stay where they belong; in their loving homes.” – Dr. Jastrebski
