Our annual Wags, Whiskers, and Wine event was nothing short of spectacular this year! Held at the picturesque Honey Bee Barn at Hopkins Heartland in Milton, DE, this past Thursday, June 14, the evening brought together our community in a celebration of compassion, generosity, and a shared love for animals.
An Evening of Elegance and Purpose
The event, which has become a beloved tradition for our Sussex community, was a resounding success. Guests enjoyed an elegant evening filled with delicious food from Bethany Blues, exquisite wine & cocktails from Hitched Pub (in partnership with Bin 66 and Dogfish Head), and delightful entertainment from Matt Lafferty and the Pros from Dover, all while supporting the lifesaving work of Humane Animal Partners. The atmosphere was vibrant, with attendees mingling under the summer sky, bidding on exciting auction items, and sharing stories of their beloved pets – including Jeanine Porter and Jeff Bush, the adopters of beloved Tessy, who spent a record-breaking 1,007 days in HAP’s care before finding her furever home.
Supporting Our Mission
The highlight of the evening was the overwhelming generosity of our supporters. Thanks to the incredible participation in our silent and live auctions, as well as donations made throughout the evening, we raised significant funds that will directly support our mission! These contributions will help us continue providing essential care, medical services, and forever homes to the animals who need us most.

Looking Ahead
As we reflect on the success of this year’s Wags, Whiskers & Wine, we are filled with excitement for what the future holds! We’re already looking forward to next year’s event and the continued growth of Humane Animal Partners as we work together to create a better world for animals…together. We also are looking forward to welcoming our supporters to our next signature event in Sussex County—Save ‘Em by the Sea Casino Night—on Thursday, September 26th at Baywood Greens Ballroom.
